Max Topplin couldn’t decide what he wanted to do when he grew up. So he figured he’d do everything.

“I thought I might as well choose all of them through acting,” he says.

A self-proclaimed character actor, the 22-year-old Forest Hill native has been a chess champion, a racer and most recently naïve rookie associate Harold Jakowski of popular legal drama Suits.

Topplin says he’s fortunate to be chosen for the role and adds the series being shot mainly in Toronto is a bonus.

However, he admits Harold isn’t his most favourite character nor has he found a role he fully identifies with.
“There are aspects of Harold that are wonderful but some that are not so much,” Topplin says. “I want to play someone confident in the future.”

But with several projects lined up, he thinks it won’t be long until his ideal role becomes a reality.

Topplin will star in horror flicks The Barrens and Carrie, a remake of the 1976 hit based on the Stephen King novel.

When he isn’t on camera, Topplin will be producing Welcome to Mainstage, a mockumentary about a theatre company for convicted minors, and shooting music videos with Toronto talent, such as hip-hop duo Roney and Nani.

An accomplished photographer, he will also be going on his fourth trip photographing Haiti.
